OPC is an Orphanage and learning centre

OPC is an Orphanage and learning centre near Mae Hong Son in the Northwest of Thailand near the Thai-Burmese border. The centre was founded in December of 2002 by five representatives from the Shan community who were involved in development and social work. Over the past three years the centre has provided shelter, security and education for numerous underprivileged migrant children. The school provides training in the Shan, Thai and English languages as well as basic skills such as cooking and farming. The centre has a garden and rears pigs and chickens. The students work to tend the crops and animals, learning as they do the skills necessary to be independent and self-sufficient.

In addition, OPC does a variety of work in the surrounding communities; from providing education and support to members of the wider community to helping with local projects from clothes banks to water systems.

OPC welcomes support both through volunteers and donations in the form of materials and creativity as well as financial. If you'd like to get involved please see the volunteer and donor pages.
