Truck
Office administrative costs
Used truck to transport children to public school and on various field trips and to activities. Transport animal food from the market to the farm, and other miscellaneous transportation activities To fund the ongoing running costs of the OPC office

Costing:

Vechicle purchase - 200,000 THB

Petrol – 200 THB/month

Licensing costs – 5,000 THB

Costing:

Staff salaries - 6000 THB

Paper, office supplies, electricity and misc operational costs – 800 THB

Intern salary – 3000 THB

Rationale:

Currently we pay a member of the Mae Hong Son community 7,000 THB per month to transport the OPC children to their public school. This is a high expense and is not a good sustainable option for the OPC learning center.

Rationale:

The office is where all of the fundraising and project management for OPC takes place. It is also a place for training interns in computer skills, English, and office management. We teach our Evening advanced English class at the office and house many of our volunteers in the two bedrooms attached to the building.

Farm operation costs
Ongoing running costs for OPC shelter Ongoing running costs for the OPC farm

Fuel for the generator - 1000 THB

Food for the children - 1000 THB

Clothing and hygiene supplies for children - 500 THB

Bedding set for cold season - 300 THB / Blanket and Pillow

Training course for OPC students - Variable

Money for fish, pig and chicken food - 500 THB

Money for egg chickens - 500 THB

Purchase of land next to OPC shelter (to be used as additional vegetable growing farm land - 50,000 baht

Rationale:

The OPC shelter is currently running on a skeleton budget. We only use our generator for electricity for a few hours in the evening. The children mostly eat food that is donated by the Thai-Burmese Border Consortium (TBBC) in the form of rice, soya beans, oil, and salt. They also eat vegetables that the cook gathers from the forest surrounding the shelter. The children rarely eat meat.

Rationale:

The farm is an excellent teaching tool for us to give the children vocational training in organic and sustainable farming. We have a full-time farmer who acts as a care-taker and teacher. The children are given lessons in life-skills that they will need when they leave the OPC shelter.
