Volunteers can become involved with OPC in a variety of ways. These include teaching, helping with the administration of the project, fundraising, web site development, gardening, landscaping, and maintenance. While volunteers are unpaid, OPC may be able to provide accommodation and access to transport as well as a welcoming and supportive working environment. You can be sure that as a volunteer at OPC you'll learn a lot, meet many great people and do valued and important work.
If you would like to volunteer at OPC, please contact the project director, Kham Chuen, at . Please include when you would like to come, what kind of work you'd be most interested in doing, and any relevant experience you may have had previously.

Three months as a volunteer at OPC have enriched my life. I love the kids. They are amazing in so many ways like no other children I have met until now. I liked being fully involved in their lives, reaching such close contact with children whom I love and who love me, even though I don’t speak Thai or Shan.
My time was split between spending time with children, doing recreational activities, and teaching English and computer; and doing administrative and project management work, fund raising and organizing training for OPC staff on issues such as counseling on HIV AIDS. I really appreciated working with Kham Chuen as I found him very open on the issues OPC is facing as an organization that helps children of migrant workers. It is thanks to him that I learned so much in such a short period of time.

Volunteering at OPC has been a very rewarding experience. The day to day interaction with students, staff and residents of the Mae Hong Son area has given me an insight into the complexity of the challenges facing migrant workers.
Kham Chuen has been especially helpful in teaching me about the continuing hardships and social problems experienced by ethnic minorities on the border. He has also given me the opportunity to become involved in many different aspects of the project, including writing proposals and working with partner organizations.
My time at OPC has inspired me to continue doing humanitarian work in the area and has left me with many great memories.

I've spent the last month working at OPC, teaching English and building the web site. The experience has been great, the works been challenging but really enjoyable especially spending time and getting to know the OPC students. The Mae Hong Son area is really beautiful which makes for great exploring on days off. I'm not sure when but I'm sure I'll be back.
